Hello group, new member. 35 years selling for The Lincoln Electric Company. Left to join a welding distributer with a great opportunity for me. The recession killed the opportunity and now I would like to find a job in welding sales in the Philadelphia area. Any interest, please notify the group.

I am not looking for any welders or personel but I started my own business 12 years ago and I am at the point where I am working all the time and have a small backlog all the time. (I started alone and now employ 3 guys to help with fabrication.) I think that is due to the fact that my prices are realistic, I give 100% on each and every job, and that I say what I am going to do and do it no matter what. I do not advertise and get all of my jobs because someone I worked for recommended me. I believe there are miscellaneous metals jobs, such as the majority of the jobs I do are, available in every state. Half of my work comes from one contractor and I get first grabs on every welding job they have. I never take a job I can not do and that alone build my rep with them. I think any welder can do this provided he or she is responsible and can perform. There are big contractors all over who have small jobs ($1000 to $20,000) that larger welding firms don't want. We are a special trade and lives depend on what we do. I carry liability insurance and I am totally mobile, though I do have a small backyeard shop for some things. This can be done. If I did it anyone can do it. Well, those are my thoughts for today. Sorry if you think I rambled on.
