With all the recent lay-offs and retirements due to the poor economy, we've found that there is a tremendous lack of "tribal knowledge" regarding the resistance welding process in industry. Have others noticed this problem? Properly applied, resistance welding is a very reliable process, but one problem is that you can't usually tell from a visual inspection whether the weld is strong enough. We build resistance welders and we are now being called in by many customers to do training on the process.
